It included squid (my least favorite), mussels, fish, shrimp, one large scallop, and two fried whole prawns. It was garnished with plenty of sliced red onions, which is a nice change from the traditional salsa criolla, along with large Inca corn, fried corn kernels, and two thick slices of sweet potato. The ceviche paired incredibly well with the aji verde sauce. All the seafood was fresh, and the leche de tigre was bursting with flavor! The plantains were delightful, and the accompanying dip made them even better. I would definitely recommend both the ceviche and the plantains, and I can’t wait to try more dishes from this place!
I enjoyed a delicious array of dishes, beginning with the scallops, followed by the fish ceviche, and concluding with the lomo saltado. The juice was also fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
**Meal Type:** Dinner **Price Range:** $20–30 per person **Food:** ★★★★★ **Service:** ★★★★★ **Atmosphere:** ★★★ I had a delightful dinner experience at this restaurant. The food was outstanding, earning a solid five stars. The Ceviche Mixto was particularly impressive with its fresh flavors, and the Saltados were equally delicious. The service was top-notch, making sure our needs were met promptly and with a friendly demeanor. However, the atmosphere was a bit average, which is why I rated it three stars. Overall, I highly recommend trying the Ceviche Mixto and Saltados if you get the chance!
The arroz con mariscos featured seafood rice packed with squid, clams, scallops, mussels, and shrimp, all enriched with an aji amarillo reduction, white wine, carrots, and topped with parmesan cheese. The seafood was exceptionally fresh and expertly prepared. Although the restaurant has a simple decor highlighted by a beautiful painting in one corner, the culinary skills on display rival those of fine dining establishments. Additionally, the prices for the dishes were quite reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and portion sizes. Our waitress was friendly and laid-back, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Overall, the food truly takes center stage here! Just a heads up: if you plan to pay with a credit card, the restaurant will add a 4% surcharge to your bill.
Where should we go eat? Lonzo's! This place has been my go to Peruvian spot for years. It has that mom and pop charm and while you won't read about it on all the blogs, it's well worth the visit. Just be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, seating is limited. Your meal starts with the classic bread and aji which is spicy but addicting. You'll want to put it on everything. The must order at Lonzo's are the Lomo Saltado and the Peruvian Pesto Pasta. We did the filet mignon for both and shared. There's plenty of flavor in the Lomo and just throw on some aji sauce and enjoy. The Peruvian Pesto Pasta had tender meat and saucy pasta. It has a deep pesto flavor that's not like your typical Italian version but hits just right. It's the perfect ordering combo for two people. Just the right amount of food. The best thing about this place is it's location. There's plenty of parking in the neighborhood or street. Grab a drink across the street at Blind Barber to cap off your night.
