There are plenty of great areas for pictures and firewood is very reasonablypriced if you accidentally didn't bring enough. There were also plenty of fallen trees and branches to keep a fire going. Thebathrooms were about what you'd expect from a state park, but not nearly as bad as a lot of the ones I've been to. It's not somuch dirty as just old. It would be nice if more funds were allocated to update the bathrooms at state parks. My only complaintis that the restaurant buffet is really not phenomenal. For roughly the same price as golden corral the options are much morelimited and not quite as good. The staff on the other hand is cheerful and helpful and no fault could be found in them.
Many cabins to choose from from rustic to lush. The two times we?ve stayed there we have found them very clean. The older ones, we like, we?re built by the CCC back around the depression to give people work and learn skills from carpentry. Electrical, stone masonry, trail and road construction as well as constructing a massive dam. The workmanship is worth seeing.
This was out second camping trip there this year. It is a very beautiful area. Love to hike around the lake. The only negative there was at the campground is that the water at our site wouldn't shut all the way off. It had a steady stream coming out theentire time. I am sure they are short staffed just like everyone else. Everything else was a big positive. a lot of statecampgrounds you never see the camp hosts. Here, they were out and about most of the day. Thank you for that. Hopefully will beback a couple times next year.
This is actually my second visit to the park. I really like this place because it's very serene and just so beautiful in nature and the best part is the viaduct bridge between the lake and waterfall. I was alone but this is a place best shared with thecompany of others. The Harvest restaurant is really a great place to dine especially with the view of the lake. Great placefor camping as well. People also swim here as well. There's a visitor center when you drive in to provide information.
My mom treated me, my sister, and our kids to a gals and kids trip to Cumberland Mountain State Park. We arrived on Wednesday and stayed through Friday in a Deluxe Cabin (2 bed, 2 bath). What a wonderful little getaway! The cabin was clean andcomfortable, though dated, but that was expected! The bathroom could use some TLC with the peeling wallpaper, but it didn'tbother us. The beds were SO comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed a toaster, coffee maker, can opener, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The restaurant hours were a little random, but we enjoyed lunch there on Thursday before taking the kids tothe huge pool. The ADA path along the lake is perfect for a quick walk, especially if you have a stroller. Overall we had awonderful time and hope to make trips here more frequently!
