Hababero - Costa Rica

Catch a beautiful sunset while enjoying a cocktail and fresh dishes. My partner and I shared the whole fish, shrimp in tomato sauce, and the labaneh. Labaneh not pictured because we ate it so fast it was the best I’ve ever had and I love my labaneh. Beware, it is on the pricier side (which is why I’m giving it four stars and not five) but overall we had a lovely experience. We went here on Sunday night for their sunset party as well the DJ did not disappoint and had everyone feeling free to dance like one of those blow up people outside a car dealership.

First, this place is now called Uma and has a Mediterranean vibe on the menu. Only down sides: it’s definitely pricy and I wish they had a more extensive cocktail menu. I would have loved to just drink a bunch of cocktails on the beach. I’d probably have also expected a bit more of a wine menu for a place of this price level. That aside, the views/location are incredible. The service is fantastic. And the food is some of the best we’ve had in Costa Rica. The whole red snapper was super tender and some of the best we’ve tried. The grilled shrimp and fish ceviche appetizers were pretty perfect, too. And the creamy artichoke and shrimp main dish was also fantastic. That pistachio ice cream and crispy flute dessert is also a must. We really didn’t dislike anything. If you’re a fan of spicy food: definitely get the grilled jalapeño tapa, which also comes with an amazing spicy garlic and tomato paste. Spices up any dish in no time!

We were walking along the beach and found this beautiful restaurant/bar/resort. We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday in July while visiting Santa Teresa. This was a special place to stop for lunch. It has spectacular ocean view. Our servers were very nice and attentive. We enjoyed our lunch and the food was delicious. It was one of the best meals that we have had in Costa Rica.

This was the best meal, service, and atmosphere we had on our family trip. In fact, we came back again on our last night to celebrate Fathers Day. Special thanks to Juan Cruz for the excellent service and allowing us to practice Spanish with him. We had the best time and will be back!
