Uncle Tom's Barbecue - Coral Gables

I ordered the full rack of ribs, which came with fries and coleslaw. He chose from the lunch menu and went for the combo plate featuring two meats, fries, and coleslaw, selecting pulled pork and brisket. Oh my, the ribs were fantastic! They were cooked to perfection—not falling off the bone (as ribs shouldn't be) but incredibly tender and well-seasoned with a dry rub. There was also BBQ sauce available on the tables, which I used to my taste, but I appreciated that the ribs weren’t overly coated in sauce—you can add as much as you prefer! My boyfriend's meal was just as generous, with plenty of delicious pulled pork and brisket. While I wasn't particularly fond of the brisket, he loved it. We both couldn’t stop raving about the pulled pork, which was also served with just the right amount of sauce so you could customize it. I would highly recommend visiting if you’re in the mood for BBQ. Next time, I plan to order a pitcher of beer since they have great specials that include free wings! The lunch specials offer amazing value. I enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich accompanied by fries and coleslaw, all of which were delicious. For dessert, I tried the key lime pie, and it was just right—creamy with the perfect balance of tartness. Plus, all of this came with a soft drink for just $8! That’s tough to beat.

The restaurant is clean and offers friendly service. They have the best smoked ribs in town, and the new owners truly understand the business, completely different from the previous ones.

The food and service were excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the pulled pork baked potato, while my girlfriend chose the pulled chicken baked potato. The potatoes were generously sized and packed with meat. Both the pork and chicken were flavorful and moist. Even with four sodas and a bottled water to take home, the total came to less than $30. I don't usually write reviews, but when I do, it's because my experience was particularly poor. The ribs were dry and nearly inedible. The brisket was sliced so thin that it hardly qualifies as BBQ. The mac and cheese tasted just like Velveeta. It's shocking that this place considers itself a BBQ restaurant. I would recommend staying far away. Food rating: 1/5.
