Fish, meat, vegetarians.. The ingredients are super fresh, made daily in store. We were pleasantly surprised with the service. Great team! Which Habla Español ???? Great thing is they serve beer too.
Rodilla is a famous sandwich chain coming from Madrid,Spain, in Europe. Will they have have success in the US? Not sure because I doubt that people here will like the concept. The portions are not generous compared to American standards. However, the quality is nice and I would compare rodilla to a kind of luxury fast food restaurant, where one's can stay and work or meet with friends. Maybe like Starbucks or Pasión del Cielo... But less coffee oriented Quietenvironment, super clean, friendly team. You'll spend around 20$ for a full lunch. Half for drink/coffee 2 sandwiches combo.
Another time, the attendant was toward the middle of the restaurant when a customer walked in. She neglected to go toward the front to talk to the customer but instead shouted out, asking what the customer wanted. A menu is simple with salads, soups, sandwiches, tapa tablets, and smoothies. Though the sandwiches are priced reasonably, they appear to be a thin slice of loaf bread with minimal substance. Their baguette sandwiches run for $12 and $14. They have tapas from$16 to $28, while their smoothies and juices are about $10. The few times I have walked by, there hardly seems to be any Customers, so I do not know how long this place will last with the rents being what they are in Coral Gables. I hopethey make it, but I will not go back for strike three.
My first visit to Rodilla was in 1973 when I lived in Madrid. Like many other Spanish food chains/ purveyors they have expanded to Miami in recent years. They currently have three locations in the area. Imagine my surprised when we arrived at their Coral Gables stores around 8:45, the store opens at 8:30, to find out a limited selection of what appeared to be yesterday's croissants (6) and sandwiches. The only person in the store told us that the baker/ sandwich maker? would arrive in about one hour. Location looks great has some tables outside. But if you are going to open the store, at least you should have to fresh food to sell, no? Extremely dissapointed.
This is my go to coffee spot. I work a few blocks away and sneak away all the time for this little treat! They are also so sweet. It’s a true pleasure. Thank you Rodilla.
