I'm half japaner and lived in the opposite of tokio for years, and that's by far the best sushi I had here. there are other decent places, not misunderstood me, but matoi not only makes sushi good (and authentic) but they also make a lot of Japanese food that taste just as wonderful. I have brought many paint visitors from japan to the restaurant and they have enjoyed eating. the personal is amazing, eating is excellent, it is almost always busy (what says something). it is really a hidden gem, as most people go in the city for good eating and that is simply not necessary.
It was the worst sushi that ever eat, not only that I wait until the food was cold and the rice taste looks so hard it was from the day before, I will not recommend this place unless they like their. food cold and hard rice, customer service the worst that they do not see me safe again.
That is a restaurant where the chef is the owner and not soy sauce served. not even when I asked. he told me to eat my rainbow roll without soy sauce and he would give it to me if I didn't like it. He was right. you taste the roll. without soy sauce. not covering. the mushroom soup they serve is very good. try it when they go to the restaurant
They have been here for years and is a great sushi restaurant in the three cities. they serve fishing from japan. owner worked for fuji restaurant in burnaby. a thing I wish they could have more sorts of fishing. from japan. sashimi is always fresh here.
I went to Matoi Sushi Coquitlam in November and I was very pleased with the service and food. This restaurant is one of the few actual authentic Japanese restaurants in the lower mainland. Would dine here again.
