M Cafe - Coquitlam

M cafe is one of the better Hong Kong Style cafe in Coquitlam. Price is very reasonable and food is good. Definitely worth a try if you like Hong Kong Cafe style of food...eat in or take out both good!

The good: clean Chinese restaurant...an oxymoron? The waitress was patient, friendly and attentive.The menu reads like a never ending picture book! Dishes are a mix between east and west ( an oriental place that serves borscht????)Flavour - don't order the noodle in soup; the soup is MSG heavy as I reacted right away. They charge u $2 extra if u want better meat in it!- noodle dish was average at best...for $13 or so..I expected a bit more meat and veggies.Value- not sure if I would consider getting value out of our meal.Portions- not bad...but if you aren't fulfilled ...what's the point?If you must eat here...the $16 combo platters may be a better choice.

The prices seemed good on the menu. Then when the food arrived, I realized that there was not a lot. But it's better than a McDonald breakfast for about a dollar more so not much to complain about.The menu was interesting. There are the traditional western breakfast with eggs and sausages and ham etc. Then there are Chinese breakfast with congee and some other stuff.Service was not bad, but could be better. Server gave me wrong kind of eggs. Also, server took the order from one of us and then left without taking orders from the others. Odd.The location has ample parking and the interior is not bad. Nice furniture etc but when you look a little closer, there were chips on the tables and so on. Bathroom was clean which is always nice.Not sure if I'd come back or if I'd rather go to Denny's or White Spot in the future. Probably worth another try to make a better decision.

Failed many times to include most important relish for Hainanese chicken? So you MUST check before you leave! That's poor management and customer service! But I have to say the food is excellent! But will not patronize MCafe anymore!

Beware of this restaurant!!!I went to M Cafe where it has a “CASH ONLY POLICY FOR UNDER $25" in Coquitlam, B.C. for breakfast by myself. When my bill came, I was surprised to find that there was a 10% Service Charge added to the amount.When asked about the charge, I was told that the Cafe has a 10% Service Charge on individuals and a 15% Service Charge for a group of 10 or more policy.I then asked if the 10% Service Charge on INDIVIDUALS was written on the menu, the answer was.. “No, it wasn't”.In my personal opinion... Charging INDIVIDUALS a service charge – without warning or disclosure on the menu - was a license to steal from customers. It was against the law!
