Antico Mognano - COMO

When we entered this restauarant it was empty. As it is a very large restaurant it felt very strange. This should have been a warning to us. We had been before a few years ago and it was quite busy so we thought to give it another try. Although the food was good, the bill was extortionate. It's obvious that this family want to get rich very quickly and charge the earth for the food they serve. Restaurants dont work that way nowadays; they try to keep their clients by offering good food at moderate prices. We felt we had been robbed, and understood the reason that this restaurant is empty. They will be closing soon if they carry on charging these prices. Also the man who served us looked as if he needed a good shave. No, we shall go back to our usual restaurant in Tavernola, this one will not see us again.

We spent 3 days in Como and came here on the drive back to Switzerland. Both pizzas were great! Much recommended.

I visited Antico Mognano lot of times. When I was young it was our favorite family restaurant . In recent times Antico Mognano significantly expanded its beer selection as one of the owners, Davide Vinci, became a biersommelier and one of the Ambassadeur d 'Orval Zytholoog. They are also pioneers of zytho-gastronomy, offering both main courses and dessert where beer is the star of the dish.
