Union Club Restaurant - Colac

It took 50 minutes to serve a mixed grill and parmigiana. The mixed grill was so bunt the bacon was black, the staff could not identify the meat. Would honestly not even give it to a dog. Would never visit this place again.

Terribly disappointing to be served stone cold food and then told the same had happened the night before as "all parmies are pre-cooked and then reheated". The explanation was very Fawlty Towers and not the best possible way to get repeat business. On the return of our meals they were only just warm but as travellers we were on a time limit and had already waited quite a while - we ate the meals vowing never to return. We were offered a free drink which was appreciated and the young staff were obviously embarrassed and left to deal with the issue alone. The kitchen needs to up it's game and produce hot food and when a meal is sent back it should be a completely new meal brought out, not a part warmed up slightly nibbled on meal.

Popped in on a Monday lunch break. Tried the Union Burger, sensational! The size, price and taste were spot on. Friendly staff, super serving time. Chips are to die for.... do yourself a favour.

I've eaten and drank at this pub for yearsI live 40min away and it is my goto place for a cold beer and a meal when ever i'm in Colac or want to catch up with friends.First and foremost the service you get in the public bar is terrificAnd i say that mostly due to 1 or 2 staff members that make it that way.One is an older chap that handles the afternoon and happy hour shift.He is one of dieing breed. A true barman!He alone can do the job of 2 or 3 young folk too busy checking their facebook to notice you need a drink!So cheers to him and for being one of the last old school barman i've seen.Outside that, they are all friendly and willing to help out.Next, the food...Well an extensive menu and everything is good!I've seen the Mixed Grill in the dinning and it is HUGE!$29.90 and it comes on a plater, not a plate!Each day they have a special also.I got caught out the other night when one of my cards stopped working.The staff were so obliging and helpfulA younger fella sorted me out in no time with a combo of cash and cardThen offered me a free beer with my dinner.Hello.... Where do you get this service anymore?A Pub and Publican that actually understand what hospitality is!And old fashioned service.Since then i have told everyone i've spoken to about how well i was treated at the Union.And i will certainly be back to continue the patronage!Icy cold beerGreat affordable foodFriendly staffAnd general great atmosphere in the barWhat's not to like! Good on you team, keep being a great pub / restaurant.And a tip... Why don't you make your Mixed Grill a signature dish, a reason people travel for miles.It has the makings of that already :)

Small town, not many people in the restaurant, but that means having the restaurant to ourselves without being drown by others. Dishes were generally good, servings definitely ample, and chips were good.
