Empire Cafe & Deli - Cochrane

This is a Calgary historical land mark I can't believe that it was not listed on yelp yet.

It's a strange but cool little restaurant considering it's the counter for goodies for the theatre. While waiting for my lunch, I took a quick look in the theatre. Kinda like looking back in time. Nice staff, great little meal. Nice stop in for a quick bite! Check it out!

The ice cream is from Manitoulin and is much better than your regular corner store variety. It's not as sweet and a lot creamier. It's the only place I ever go for ice cream. They also have fast food, movie rentals and a small theater.

Fish and chips were just, wow. I always feel that much hyperboles in reviews make them look wrong and exaggerated. Not for this place. We ordered fish and chips, as well as a cheeseburger, and my goodness, the taste has thrown us away. This cafe... really is a snack bar where you get your pop maize before you watch a movie, but it comes with a few seats and I think the cook must have sold his soul for the recipe or something because the food from this world is amazing! You would not have guessed by only looking at the facility from outside; a typical small town theatre opposite a bowling alley and next to a church, you would think it's just another one of those places that sell overpriced snacks for couples to film data. But noooooooooo The cook took the time to prepare the dishes, and it wasn't even long waiting, but a bite in the fish and we were blown away. Like Boom. Soft, fluffy fish under a crunchy, warm dough that went well with or without spices. We were from the city, but the people who worked there were so friendly that they helped us find accommodation for the night and came to chat with us. We were so happy with the experience and the food we came back to dinner the same night because we knew nothing else would cut it. Super nice people, quirky spot and great food. What else do you need?
