The Post Office Hotel - Coburg

I came for a Saturday lunch and was impressed by how the bar had become more comfortable since I was here last. The staff were full of smiles, friendly and helpful, and the food menu was interesting. I chose a local beer (Son of a Gun IPA) and had the Vegetarian Pasta (Spaghetti with a creamy sauce of peas, mushrooms, sun dried tomato). The spaghetti was delicious and the beer had a strong bitter taste. Both were great value for money.

So disappointed thought we’d treat ourselves to dinner out scotch fillet $35 thought it wld be special a THIN FATTY FLAVOURLESS bit of meat turned up on My plate with chips floating in gravy ! No veg nothing **** shocking 2 steaks and 2 glasses of wine $109! Ate opp the next night at local Indian $25 pp and delicious! Appreciate hard getting staff atm but this was rip off on steroids will NOT be going back sadly as it’s a local

The venue was very clean but there is nothing attractive about the basic decor or bare wooden table tops. The food was generally OK however those who had fish got the smallest size imaginable for the price charged. I was hoping for a roast but there was none. Our booking was for Noon on a Sunday however it wasn't open on time and they were obviously not ready to start serving meals for a while.

Staff are wonderful especially Merf, couldn't do enough for us. The food is out of this world, and the rooms are spotless, highly recommended. Will definately return. Thank you for a wonderful stay xx Debi and Steve

Four of us had lunch, all very hungry. Three had the fish n chips, and while the serving size was adequate, it was not generous for the price charged. Two said it was ok, the third person was still hungry. The fourth order was a special of the day, Gnocchi with seasonal veg, spinach and cheese. What was actually delivered was an entree size bowl of gnocchi which about five pieces of diced carrot (obviously frozen), tasted like canned sauce and three spinach leaves thrown on top, not overly warm either. The meals here are not cheap for what is delivered. Would not recommend or return.
