Sorrento Take Away - Cobh

Thought I needed to review this takeout because most reviews were older. We ordered from this take out because we could not get into any of the restaurants we wanted and we ran into several locals nearby that recommended it. Our group all ordered the fish and we found the meal to be quite good. They did forget (I think) the tartar sauce but even with mayo, it tasted good. I am not normally a fish and chips person (not a fan of deep fried fish) but I did not find it to be too oily and the fish was moist. Good find for take-out.

Worst fish and chips I’ve had. Dry over cooked fish, greasy batter, average chips. So much grease it dripped onto my jeans!

Pre ordered an hour before still had to wait 20 mins, be nice if they could have the orders on time at least, especially since the other was so simple

A genuinely unbiased review. Please read. I’m a pizza freak, I could eat it 3-4 times a week. I critique pizza like no other. I’ve tried ever pizza in cork and it comes down to quality but also affordability(the Italian way). Pizza in Italy costs pittance, because it costs pittance to make and margins are massive, so when I see pizzerias selling margaritas for almost 20e I just have to laugh. That being said, if your looking to a true homemade, New York slice pizza, then please look no further. Stone baked pizza with the most incredible crust, with amazing flavor and a slight bite and chew to the crust. It’s airy, yeasty and scrumptious. There sauce is as it should be, fragrant and flavorful. Cheese is perfect, has a slight tang to it and caramelizes so so good. A large 16” cheese pizza is less than €10. The dough is 100% fresh a new made on sight, there pizza is cooked to perfect each and every time I go here. It’s run by a lovely Italian family, they work hard and under charge(in my opinion). It’s worth a drive out from the city to grab some pizza, go for a stroll along the waterside. I travel from Carrigaline at least once a month to just eat here. They’d do well if they opened pizzeria in the cork suburbs.

Ordered food from this takeaway first week in Aug 2021 and after reading many reviews about the quality of food I was not let down. The location is just behind the Cathedral in Cobh and on a steep hill but that doesnt stop so many locals eating from it. Service was fast but it did not take from the quality of the food I got from here. The Seafood Cone is a must for any seafood lovers and the Cod Box was hkw fish from a take away should be. Will definetely be back again in the future
