Recently, one of our favorite restaurants closed down and we were in search of a new alternative. While scrolling through TripAdvisor, we rediscovered Buon Gusto and decided to give it another try. We were pleased that we did. We were seated promptly and our server, Chris, took great care of us. The restaurant is BYOB, so we were able to save on the alcohol costs. We were served a delicious warm bread that was very satisfying. The main menu was a bit limited, but there were many options to choose from. We had a simple mixed green salad with a delicious dressing. Although we had to wait a bit due to a large party, it wasn't a major inconvenience. My wife ordered a fish that she had never tried before, but it was similar to sole, baked with artichoke breadcrumbs. I had a dish of mussels and clams (it normally also comes with shrimp, but I am allergic) in a delectable tomato sauce, prepared in the Marechiara style. Both dishes were excellent. I had a side of marinara pasta and my wife had spinach. We were very impressed with both the food and the service. This restaurant will definitely be added to our list of favorites. Give them a try.
This restaurant has been one of my favorite local spots for years now. Since the start of COVID-19, I have preordered three times in the past three weeks over the phone with my credit card for curbside pickup. Each time, I have been impressed with the setup in the parking lot, where a table is waiting for me. The owner, Joseph, or one of his staff members, announces my order when it's ready and brings it out for me to pick up. Joseph always greets me warmly and we exchange pleasantries. I have been consistently pleased with my order of zuppa di pesch fra diablo with linguini, which I have ordered three times in a row now. I plan to continue coming here on a weekly basis during COVID-19. I have noticed that there are usually two to three other cars waiting in the parking lot as well. After picking up my bag of food, I always leave a tip on the table.
This restaurant is a hidden Italian gem. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, willing to make any changes or substitutions to ensure your satisfaction. The traditional Italian food is delicious with generous portions, whether it's seafood, fish, or pasta. The dishes are always fresh and prepared with care, unlike other restaurants that make false claims. Bringing your own wine is allowed and the prices are very reasonable. We have been coming here for over 25 years and have always been happy with our experience.
Everyone was very friendly, even the closest to the table. the food was tasty, the service was perfect and the ambiente was welcoming. we will try out other offers on the menu.
My wife and I love this restaurant. While we live in New Hampshire, over the last decade we have often visited the Closter area because our daughter lives nearby. When in New Jersey, we go to Buon Gusto at least once per week, and sometimes twice, because the food is various, well prepared, and very reasonably priced. The owners are gracious, friendly, competent, and attentive. They have an extensive menu of Italian staples and always an equally extensive selection of specials. Moreover, they are always ready to accommodate dietary restrictions in preparing dishes, and I have several. The veal marsala or veal Milanese are my wife's favorites, and I often order the pasta primavera or chicken Romano, They always have several seafood selections, which the owner personally selects at the fish market every morning. The BYOB is an extra benefit that allows drinking our favorite wines without the markup of the typical restaurant in New Hampshire and without a corkage fee. If you are in the Closter area and love good food, you must try Buon Gusto!
