They taste like sweet corn bread but are more like pancakes. They're also easy for my little guy to eat, even if he prefers his food deconstructed. Our go-to dish is the Cachapa queen, which is a chicken salad with avocado instead of mayo, served with black beans and onions. The yuca and the fried plantains make for delicious sides! Pair it with fresh mango or papaya juice (among many other options), and you have the perfect meal. They have desserts available, but we're always too full from lunch to try them. All in all, I absolutely love this place—it's my new guilty pleasure!
The food was not only delicious, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful as well. I wasn't sure where to begin, so one of the staff members went through the menu with me and assisted me in making a fantastic choice. They even held the door open for me. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back and try more!
I was pleasantly surprised by the casual vibe of the restaurant, especially since my previous encounters with arepas were from a food truck and a crowded sit-down place in New York City, where we had to wait two hours for a table. The menu is fantastic, offering plenty of options for vegetarians like me. There were three of us, and we ordered an arepas sandwich and one side — it turned out to be too much food, but it was all delicious! I can't wait to return.
Total enjoyment!!! Spoke in length with the owner, (the most honored person at all, and so enthusiastic about their food)! She explained a bit about every dish and made me taste several! Gluten-free facility, aware of how to avoid contamination for people with celiac disease. New in the Clifton Park!!!
We got takeout on the way home Friday night. We were ravenous, so we started on the yuca frites on the drive home. Such a lovely, crunchy crispy texture, nicely seasoned, and very satisfying. If you put me in a corner with a bucket of them, you'd keep me happy for hours. I thought I'd be sad when they were gone, but! we were home and it was arepa time. Delicious fresh ingredients in the vegetarian arepa! Creamy avocado and feta, juicy tomatoes, young spinach leaves, with little pieces of heart of palm mixed in. The arepa by itself was a nice texture and delicious flavor; I'd happily eat one plain. And then I finished the wonderfully delicious arepa, and was sad it was gone. But then... I pulled out the tres leches cake! And it was perfection! Sweet, creamy and spongy, covered with a layer of whipped cream. I savored this as slowly as I could with three nosy cats trying to steal it from me. I'd say I was sad it was gone, but I was full and happy, and definitely want to have an excuse to go there again asap.
