Some Velvet Morning - CLIFTON HILL

I was here a few times to drink an evening and music, and had no bad experience. the personal is friendly, the atmosphere is a local / community buzz, the music choices fantastic and the sound quality unmatched for a venue of this size. I had visited the vegetarian afteros at my last visit and they were delicious and delivered fast.

Or if you understand that like Dylan, Seinfeld or AFL, there are some things you either ‘get’ or don’t. There’s no demeaning status to not ‘getting’ often popular things. Some Velvet Morning (SVM) is a package deal that will appeal or not. If you don’t ‘get it’, nothing the venue could ever do would change your opinion. If you do ‘get it’, then its faults are largely irrelevant- much like the lack of jogging and cycling paths in Venice. So today I wanted to try out some thing different from my local haunt Cafe Quince when Some Velvet Morning popped up on my Zomato radar. Some Velvet Morning is an interesting “little piece of Brunswick” in Clifton Hill… Clifton Hill is a fairly white collar suburb and (for sake of ease I’m just going to call this place SVM) SVM more of an artistic style venu. Live music in the evenings, alcohol service available, not all the cushions comfortable… Kinda get my drift?

This place was really disappointing. Don't waste your time. Actually ate there for lunch a long time ago and the negative experience still lingers. We ordered a roast veggie roll of some simple kind and some smashed avocado on sourdough. What should have taken 15 minutes in a near empty cafe took about an hour. Service was unapologetic and bored. Coffees nothing to write home about. We won't be back.

The place has a nice vibe and is great for a relaxed drink, in regards to food the burger was nothing special but the pulled pork nachos were good.
