We visited Ming Court a couple of weeks ago with friends and enjoyed a banquet for four people - the food was delicious and plentiful and the service was friendly and efficient. Thoroughly recommend to people visiting Hobart - 5 minutes by car from Wrest Point.
Went for tea first time suggested by a friend, as we were staying in sandy bay wanted places close. Beautiful little shop nice decor. Service was good, our sons first time at Chinese restaurant he loved it. The entrees was yummy. Mains we're beautiful i had the duck and was lots of it. Great place would go back.
The menu is large but very dated - it would have been great in the 70's. The carpet also was from the 70's - both the pattern and the bare threads in the walkway testified to that. It is licensed; the alcohol prices are reasonable and the service good. There is a "Specials" menu sheet as well as the main menu and it is more current and interesting although one of the dishes was unavailable. We tried dishes from both menus and found the Szechuan Chicken from the Special menu to be very good. On the other hand the Mongolian Beef was average and the "Special" Fried Rice was among the worst I've ever had - certainly the worst value at AU$14 for a very small plate of tasteless dry rice with very little in it. With the best Asian/Chinese restaurant in Australia just 2km away, I'm surprised how busy this place was. I doubt we'd be back.
While the food was good ...The service or lack of was embarrassing. Waiting ages to order and waiting for long periods of time between courses was ridiculous. You have waiting staff dressed professionally to serve yet you send children out in theirtracksuits to bring each course, Definitely won't be returning.
