Those are the only ones l've tried from their menu, but it has been consistently good for the handful of times l've gone. You can tell when you bite into the torta that they have quality ingredients. It's really soft to bite into. I also especially like the added kick of pickled jalapenos in the torta de tinga.
On a food crawl mission, was not sure what to expect but noted its remarkable resemblance to Chinese Lotus Wrapped Rice which we have during Full Moon Festival or Dim Sum. Extremely appreciative of how much chicken is in each of these tamales and how moist it is. Flavourful but not overwhelming. 1/ Mole Pablano Chicken Tamale2/ Salsa Verde Chicken Tamales3/ Chipotle with Chicken Tamal4/ HorchataThe space is a small shop for a quick bite, not a dine in. Definitely will be back post training when in the neighbourhood!!
The best and most affordable bacon egg and cheese in LES! I have done pick up multiple times and sat there to eat once. Their egg sandwich has the option to add bacon, sausage, or cheese bacon egg and cheese costs $5.5). Their egg sandwich comes with a tasty chipotle mayo on a soft brioche bun. Their tamales are also the best in the area $5 per) always fresh and delicious. There is usually only 1 person cooking in the back and 1 person taking orders so it's not always the best spot to grab something if you're in a rush, but if you have some time or order ahead to pickup, this is a great spot. Their coffee is also cheap, but not my favorite as I find it quite bitter. Staff is very kind and the food is great.Things to know: only 10 12 seats inside, but most people do not eat there; not suitable for large groups not always open right at 8:30am recommended to order ahead and pick upLink to full menu on their website: factorytamal.com/blank p…
After reading about Factory Tamal and their famous traditionally made namesake, I was eager to try this nearby establishment. For lunch we ordered a chipotle with chicken tamale, mole poblano with chicken tamal, the torta de quesillo sandwich, and the Ludlow torta. Although the tamales were good, I much preferred the tortas. Personally I think tamales in general have too high of a corn to filling ratio (Factory Tamale was not egregious in this respect). They did taste fresh and well-crafted. I thought the price tag of $5 each was a bit steep for something relatively small, but I figure that was the price for supporting a small business dedicated to a handmade artisanal snack food. I thought the tortas shined more. The vegetarian torta de quesillo, which has avocados, chipotle, baby greens, tomato, and Oaxaca cheese, packed a lot of flavor in its diverse ingredients. While this was excellent, even better was the Ludlow torta, which included black beans, red onions, quesillo, pastrami, and avocado. The pastrami especially provided a novel kick. Both tortas were filling, and along with the tortas, were more than adequate for a lunch for two.
The Chipotle Chicken Tamale is good and spicy. The Bacon and Mozzarella Tamale was different but good.
