This place has the absolute best food, I've eaten a lot of places throughout VA and enjoy some great food. But this place is a hidden gem, not a diamond in the rough, it's a perfect clarity princess cut diamond set perfectly in a place your least expect to find food this good.You cannot pass through without stopping at least once. Featuring all local fresh ingredients, homemade delicious bread (seriously the best bread). I recommend anything, but have personally tried and loved the BLT (truly legendary), the Ruben, homemade bacon cheese burger, trout sandwich, and homemade fries. They also sell cuts of local meats when in stock, local honey, homemade local compound butter, and local ciders.The staff only make this stop even more enjoyable, the energy is fun and inviting and they're happy to crack a joke. Absolutely amazing customer service and their knowledge of food is astounding. There's places that make just good food to churn it out and then there's places that really understand food and make show stopping dishes. This is one of them, whether you eat in, take out, or eat at their available outdoor area, PLEASE do not pass White's Wayside.

Wonderful, and don't be put off by the new menu, you can still build your own breakfast. Due to COVID they have greatly cut back on what the can do operating with a much smaller staff. BISCUITS GRAVY are divine. And be sure and get on order of TOAST W/RASPBERRY JAM HEAVEN.

My family came here and ate outside at one of the shaded picnic tables in the field next to the restaurant. We were able to bring our dog which is always a plus and the food and service were great! I highly recommend the trout sandwich!

Burnt fries. Soggy burger. Live band close to tables. Microphone? Why? Conversation? No. Beware, refills aren't free
