Yummy used to be a renowned dining spot known for its fantastic food and outstanding service. However, over the years, the quality has declined. During our visit, our group ordered crab noodles, deep-fried buns, fried rice, shark fin and crab soup, and stir-fried scallops with vegetables. Surprisingly, the soup was the last dish to arrive, and the deep-fried buns were oily. It seemed that the chef had not heated the oil properly. After bringing up the issue twice with our waiter, who claimed it was always like that, we finally got properly made buns after speaking with another staff member. Overall, the food quality was decent, but arrived late due to understaffing, and service was slow. If I were the owner, I would address these issues promptly.
A few weeks ago, we had a frustrating experience at this restaurant, even though we are regular customers who visit almost every month or order takeout because it stays open late. However, we will not be returning after our last visit. We arrived without a reservation, as we had done in the past, but were turned away and not allowed to enter. The waiter asked my husband, "Are you here for seafood like crabs or lobster?" When he replied no and explained that we had our newborn baby with us and wanted something quick that night, the waiter refused to serve us if we were not ordering seafood. This policy seemed ridiculous to us. Another issue with this restaurant is that they often give change in coins, possibly to make it easier for customers to leave tips. In all our visits, we have never received change in bills rather than coins.
Have been here a few times , first time we had all seafood which was lovely we seemed to be the only non Asian in the restaurant so we then knew it was good... menu is quite large so lots to chose from everything comes...out hot and steamy It is a little dated and could do with a tidy up and get the sticky tape off the windows but the staff and food are lovely and yep we will return again!
When we dined on a Sunday night Yummys was buzzing with large groups of Chinese families. There were tanks with fish many seafood selections with prices on scrolls. We were seated promptly and ordered duck soup with dried mandarin skin, steamed gow gees braised chicken...with garlic chillie (which had a superb crispy skin) seafood with fried noodles- a generous helping with king prawns, scallops, fish, snow peas;wonderful flavours for all dishes. Service was attentive. Licensed and byo. A first rate experience. Highly recommended.
