As usual, the food was really fat and really spicy, so try to know a way to ask what you do and not want. Anyway, the food was decent, and I went with another person who made us the only 2 people in the restaurant, although it was a Saturday afternoon! The portions were big, but a little expensive for what we have. I would recommend taking your own drinks as they only offer overpriced bottles and do not offer water or tea! There were shirtless guys who played Mah jiang and whispering around. The atmosphere was not exactly service-oriented. But I'm not trying to be negative. The temple area is really amazing to see, and there are places to have picnics and what-not. If you pack some extras, this temple could be a really nice place for lunch, read a book, take photos and spend a whole day. It was a really cool experience. I might go back. Also worth mentioning that it costs 15 Kuai to come to the temple, unless you go right (there is a big gold Buddha), follow an out-of-the-way path, and then migrate to the restaurant. So do the locals! Overall to find this place was a really cool experience, but it is certainly not the first place I would recommend.
Seems this restaurant has made changes since the last review visit, the better. The menu is all Chinese, but has pictures. The environment was clean and the staff was attentive. I went for a spicy tofu bowl, fresh vegetables and spring rolls that were all really nice. The veg was sweet, but not too much. Also asked for a bowl of rice, and ended with much too much (more of a bucket) a head up here. Also warm lemon water was given upon arrival, and a free small dish of diced vegetables in vinegar a nice touch. Wednesday lunch, a handful of tables occupied.
