I work in the CBD and the Stellarossa in Tank Street is my "go to" coffee shop. We decided to have coffee at the Chermside store after some retail therapy and weren't disappointed. Just like all the Stellarossa stores, this one has great coffee and friendly, knowledgeable staff. The quality and service across the chain is consistently good.
Granted, I should have taken their option of heating my rice salad. Was not very nice unheated, but I was too hungry to stop eating, and have it heated! It was gluten free, but there was no label on it saying so. I had to ask. Though the range of sweet food/cakes were well labelled with what was GF. So, even though I was eating in with my family, my coffee was brought to me in a take-away cup which was a little disappointing. The coffee tasted nice, though. I also bought a slice of GF berry bread to have later, but it wasn't so nice. Wasn't horrible, but the texture just was a bit grainy/granually. Some GF cake can be like that, but it is possible to make them without tasting like this. Service was attentive, atmosphere okay.
This café is near to the noisy food court on the ground level of the Chermside Westfield shopping centre. However it's a separate café premises, with a wide open frontage, so you can go into it and be a little distance away from the passing shoppers. On my visit one weekday for an afternoon tea break l noticed the other people sitting at the tables were alone (e.g. a tradie taking a break after the working day) or in pairs (people in white collar work clothes). When I returned the following morning to meet up with a friend, more of the customers looked to be women shoppers and elderly folk and there was scarcely a spare table. So it's evident this branch of the Stellarossa franchise chain is serving its mixed community capably. It's not really an espresso bar in the Italian mode, but it serves a reasonable coffee.
I adore this restaurant. The breakfast and lunch options are both delicious, but my favorite is the grilled cheese sandwich. I highly recommend this place.
