Royal Sri Thai - Chapel Hill

This is hands down the best Thai food in Brisbane!!! Service is absolutely awesome!! And we drive 20km to get it!

Royal Sri Thai has long been a great local favourite for either dine in or take-away Thai. Our family have been here often over a nunber of years. We once took an uncle there who had spent much time in Asia and even he gave the food the thumbs up! Our take-away this week was our first visit in a while. The spring rolls were super crispy and the pie tee chicken cups a nice addition as entree. Our chosen mains this night were green prawn curry, beef Masman curry and chicken mee goreng. We could choose the level of chilli in each dish and all were very tasty. Not a lot of vegetables but plenty of meat and sauce. Service staff are always friendly. On busy nights during peak dinner time it can be quite a wait for your order, but when the food arrives it is always fresh and very tasty.

We've dined here and had take-away many times over the years and loved it, but our take-away last night was very disappointing. It was the worst combination Pad Thai I have ever had, at least 3/4 of the container contained noodles, with a couple of tiny pieces of chicken, 2 bits of tofu and 3 prawns. My husband had the Choo Chee fish curry, after we had ordered the Beef Rendang and received a call 20mins later to say that they had just run out of that dish at 7pm. The fish curry was laden mostly with vegetables, much more than usual and there was hardly any curry in the dish, which made it very ordinary. To be fair, this was our first bad experience with food, so we will give it another go and hope the quality has returned.

I've been a few times over the past couple of years and my most recent visit was .. Let's say pleasant. They have always taken forever to get the food out of the kitchen. I'm not sure why but over the years every time I've gone no matter if it's 2 people or 5 people the meals always take a long time to come out. The food is nice but there's nothing special about it. The restaurant itself is nice and neat. Seating outside is much better than inside (personal preference). Staff are nice but don't go above and beyond but they always look busy. Average at best nothing fancy, nothing separating it from any other Thai restaurant.

We had a very enjoyable Mother's Day lunch at Royal Sri Thai with family and friends. The food was delicious, the service friendly and the venue itself comfortable. We quite regularly have takeaway from here and the food quality is always consistent and generous.
