Service incredibly slow, we all ate at different times, food was average. Pleasant waitresses but it appears the kitchen is a shambles ! We'll give Mazagao a miss next time, plenty of other very good restaurants nearby.
Puede engañar por fuera...las raciones son enanas, en el plato de mejillones venían 6 mejillones, pedimos pulpo y nos pusieron rejo y el plato era enano también.Nada recomendable, para NO volver.
We visited Mazagoa primarily as it was the only restaurant that we could find that was open. Having read previous reviews I was expecting horrendous food and service. The décor was quant, the service was friendly and prompt. I ordered wild boar stew, which was delicious, but swimming in a sea of oil; my husband had tuna steak, which again was tasty, but from frozen tuna. The accompanying salad was lovely, fresh and light. We are hoping to see a dessert menu, but it wasn't offered, and didn't try to order coffee,as a neighbouring table has their order cancelled. I got the impression the owner was trying to close for the night - at 8:30. We were surprised by the bill. I was overcharged by about 5 euros for the stew, 1 euro for the wine, and my husband was charged for a large beer, when he was only served a small one. The prices I thought were a little high. I'm not sure how it happened, but we seemed to have been overcharged by about 3-4 euros on the bottom line, so didn't tip. I still feel guilty as the staff were lovely.
Longa espera, não respeitam o que anunciam, abrem no dia de fechar e fecham na véspera, embora a comida não seja má! Uma entrada mínima, só com 3 pequenas gambas!
We stumbled across this place today. The decor was quirky and charming. I have just read some of the previous reviews and can not believe it is the same place. There was a mixture of nationalities us Brits , Canadians plus Scandinavian and SouthAfrican diners. I ordered the tuna steak which was huge it came with peppers and onions and lovely new potatoes. My husband had the steak and chips which at €12 was a bargain. Wine was less than €3 and very pleasant. I wonder if the owner is new as he was very friendly unlike the guy mentioned in previous reviews. The kitchen was open and I was pleased to see that the chef had her hair covered plus gloves when handling the food. The chairs and tables were all mis matched which added to the charm. I would certainly return . I have previously had two very disappointing lunches and this little place has restored my faith in Portuguese cooking.
