We visited on a Tuesday in early July - we were just in Melbourne for a few days, nostalgic for old haunts, tired and after passing a number of Lygon Street restaurants took pot luck. No trip advisor research was undertaken, but given the plethora of look alike Italian Restaurants on this (now) over rated tourist trap. Describing the meal as ordinary would be a crime. The seafood was not fresh, the meat was awful and the service was only about getting the bill paid. Carlton was once a good choice for food -as memory serves not having lived in Melbourne since 1989 - but the best Carlton food we had this trip was found in the non-Italian, mostly Asian cuisines scattered through this bad Italian food enclave. Fortunately there are many options in Melbourne other than Lygon Street.

Staff were fantastic, welcoming and entertaining. Food was great too! Family of 6 - Five adults and one child. Sat outside under the heater and was toasty warm. Thank you
