Balti Indian Cafe Restaurant - Carlton

Tried to make a reservation, no one picks the phone! does the place still operate? So many small-time Indian restaurants in Lygon Street close down, can't compete with Italian eateries.

We found hair in tandoori chicken and when we tried to advise the same to the owner he requested to take it out and eat the meal lol wasn't funny at that time. We were told that we ourself have put the hair in the chicken. We left the meal and didn't ask for refund as we wanted to prove that the mistake happened in the kitchen.

Had a good meal there, food was good, service was very good and with a smile!! Didn't seem to be very popular as it was almost empty but it should be busy with good food like they have there

We were a little unsure given the few people that were dining at Balti Cafe. It's sometimes an indication of popularity when a place in Lygon Street seems a little empty. However we were delighted to decide to simply go in and try. The service was fast and friendly and the food very good quality. The Butter Prawns were delicious and the curries perfectly spiced. Everything seemed fresh. We had bought along some of our own wine which was not a problem. The decor is simple but pleasant. Certainly recommended.
