We were then presented with one of the ugliest, most basic looking menus I have even seen in my life. A child with a set of crayons could have designed a better looking piece of paper. I didn't come to have a whinge about how little effort has been put into the decor of the place, but when it's so obvious it's hard to avoid. What looked like it used to be pictures of food in the windows of the restaurant (can I even call it a restaurant?) had faded and turned into 50 year old sepia tone images. Put aside, I came to eat. We ordered the miso ramen (with chicken) & the Japanese fried rice (also with chicken). The miso soup was extremely basic, floating inside were pieces of chicken fillet SATURATED with soy sauce. I've had tequila poached worms before that sponged up less liquid content. The Japanese fried rice was described "same as Malaysian, less spicy". Okay. Sure, let's give that a go. Typical oily fried rice with minimal amounts of chicken/egg. Very few veggies, and giving off the aroma resembling that of a vintage library encyclopedia. Being the uber hungry, bearded man that I am. I finished my dish, regretfully. I immediately started to notice stomach cramps. It's rare that I can't digest food. Approaching the counter to pay for our overpriced meals and get TF out of there, the young friendly staff member who was separating some kind of seed or plant all over one of the inside dining tables, (which I would assume would be used as product for cooking) without gloves, kindly served us, handled some menus and our money, then proceeded to continue working with food. I'm now at home finding it hard separating myself from the toilet bowl. I rarely leave a negative review, and I can only hope that the restaurant owners use this information as constructive criticism in order to better their existing business. I'm sorry, but I won't be back.

Jun is a strange, quirky place. A Malay/Indonesian menu combined with Japanese menu? I must commend them for their bravery! It's a small restaurant but the food is pretty reasonable. Assam Pedas was good, very spicy, sour and just how it should be. A good selection on the menu. Don't expect anything mind-blowing but it's a great place to get something simple.
The chef, Don, is culinarily trained in Japanese food, but his heritage is Malaysian, and with it comes cooking that can only be learned at your mother's knee. The Malaysian side of the menu speaks with the heart, and is impeccably designed to give those that have moved from their motherland, just a moment to transport themselves to their childhood in that first mouthful. My son favours the Japanese cuisine over the Malaysian, and it's one of the only restaurants we go where everyone is winning. After countless visits, I still ask myself why I don't return more often. Do not pass go before ordering the Ipoh Hor Fun and the Tauhu Goreng, then keep coming back to try everything else on the menu.
Great food, friendly cook, casual ambience. Ample parking with easy to find location. Highly recommend the Japanese Fried Rice & Salt & Pepper Squid.
