To be a bit isolated, it is nice to have somewhere a vegan option and the aloo Gobi Pie was good. I would not necessarily consider the personal as excessively friendly, as suggested in the listing. we came in and admitted to him that it was a busy Sunday, but they mostly ignored us. another family went in and sat right away, even though we were standing there. we had to wait until a table opened and took us to him, then wait to serve. it is a cute place and has character, but unfortunately there cannot be a high rating.
The restaurant was fully booked, but they managed to squeeze us in. The menu had just changed that day, so the dishes mentioned in other reviews were no longer available. We were able to veganize the vegetarian burger, which was delicious and came well-dressed with salad and avocado. The bungalow served a sesame beer that was not vegan, but they were happy to accommodate my request for half chips and half salad. Both the salad and chips were tasty. The burger was made with fake meat, which I normally don't enjoy, but in this case, I found it quite enjoyable. For dessert, I tried the chocolate and coconut parfait, which was delicious and beautifully presented with chocolate sauce, fresh berries, and a berry sorbet. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but was disappointed to see that the new menu lacked vegan options. Despite this, we were happy to have spent most of the day in Derrynane, starting with lunch at Derrynane's house and ending with dinner at the blind Piper.
We stopped for dinner and tried the Aloo Gobi cake with a tasty side salad and chips. The pie was delicious and came with Mayo Chutney. My son ordered the Veg Curry, which had a coconut base similar to a massaman curry - not spicy, but full of flavor. The vegetables included sweet potatoes, pumpkin/squash, and chickpeas. He really enjoyed it, so it must have been good! It's refreshing to see some unique options on the menu.
Despite being in a secluded location, it was nice to find a vegan option at this restaurant, and the Aloo Gobi Pie was delicious. However, I wouldn't describe the staff as overly friendly, as mentioned in the restaurant listing. When we arrived on a busy Sunday, they seemed to mostly ignore us. Another family came in and was seated right away, even though we had been waiting. We had to wait for a table to become available and then wait to be served. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and charm, but overall, I can't give it a high rating.
