We decided to eat in the bar area which was perfect. Our waitress Clair provided excellent service, and couldn't have been nicer . Well impressed! Served the 4 if us and made us feel very welcomed and made us laugh too. I had Camembert to start with, followed by Traditional Sussex Smokie and finished with an Eton Mess. Will highly recommend paying a visit, high quality food and service.
The food here is utterly delicious! I may have gorged myself on 3 courses, but we'll worth it. Divine fresh crab with feta and watermelon, then lamb 2 ways. The lamb melted in the mouth and the potatoes dauphinoise was unique, I've never had it like that before. Highly recommend the chocolate fondant also, it came beautifully presented with lots of little other flavours and elements. The service from the staff was warm and attentive. Much praise for your staff. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it for excellent quality food that is beautifully presented AND fills you up.
Last minute booking on a Saturday night, the barn is located in Burgess Hill, west Sussex next to a golf course driving range. Plenty of parking. The Barn is beautiful, with plenty of space to accommodate larger groups. We were quickly shown to our table, the service was prompt, friendly and engaging. Plenty of choice from the menu along with a specials menu. We had the prawn calamari and the pork teriyaki to start, followed by the duo of lamb and the suet steak guiness pudding, all was presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. Plate sizes are big and struggled to finish, however that may have been also to do with the mains immediately on the table after the starter with no rest between. The sweets looked good so we shared a soft toffee, honeycomb, chantilly cream and vanilla ice cream Sunday- very good. Bill was under £90 with four drinks (2 x 0 alcohol beers 2 x pints soda lime). Wine was about £30 a bottle.
What an amazing little find! The food was outstanding! We had the Sussex lamb beef pudding, both were cooked to perfection presentation was also 10/10. We cannot wait to go back to try other things from the menu, thank you for a wonderful experience.
My husband and I both had the 10oz gammon steak. It came with two fried eggs, a slice of grilled pineapple, a few grilled cherry tomatoes and a bowl of chips. The gammon was lovely! We love that it was warm and very much steak like. So succulent and flavoursome. The pineapple was a lovely refreshing touch! The eggs were perfectly cooked too. However, the chips were unseasoned, so we had to salt and pepper it ourselves. Except from that, it was a near perfect dish! Very filling and perfect for anyone who just wants a top tier ham, egg and chips! The service was great as well! Just an overall lovely pub. Will definitely be coming back here.
