Ober Mountain Tramway Mall In Gatl

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. One hopes to enjoy the views from the tram; however, if you are in the middle, you are more than likely going to be looking at the back of someone's head. The passengers were packed in like sardines... that is not hyperbole... packed in like sardines... absolutely horrible...a waste of money. 6/25/24

My family loved Ober Mountain will for sure be back in our next vacations

The views from the tram were spectacular and worth every penny of the experience. I recommend going to the edge of the parking lot near where the flags are for additional photos once at the top of the mountain. The ice bumper cars at the top are extremely fun; we upgraded 2 of our 5 tickets to do the cars. I hate bumper cars, but these are much easier to control and less violent upon impact. The activities at the top of the mountain are very expensive, hence the 4/5 stars.

First of all we paid to go up the mountain just to find out that the mountain had no WiFi and were only accepting cash, and the ATM machines weren’t working. Not just momentarily but for our entire day there. They let us go to the zoo for free since we couldn’t eat or participate in anything, we graciously accepted and upon entering the zoo I was SPEECHLESS when I saw the shape that the black bears were in. I genuinely was holding back tears. There were two exhibits, one had two bears the other with just one. They were very thin and mangey, they didn’t have anything in their pens to stimulate them, it was 90% concrete with no shade, no toys. The poor bear that was alone too, that bear had an exhibit without real grass. My phone was dying so my photos are limited but just look. One of the videos I took captures one of the bears snapping at the other. They were miserable, skinny, matted hair, as people yelled at them from above. INCREDIBLY neglectful of these poor bears. I don’t know who to contact about them, or what to do but I’m sure these poor bears are still there suffering in silence. Adult black bears are not supposed to be this thin and their hair matted. Look it up online, healthy black bears maintain a lot of weight and these are just skin and bones. Inexcusable. They can try and excuse it however they want but it doesn’t change the fact that this is neglectful. The pictures aren’t lying.

We rode the Ober aerial tram from and back to downtown Gatlinburg. It's about 10 minutes each way (about 30 total people in a tram), and there are tons of activities for families and kids: ice skating, ice bumper cars, food court, mountain coaster, rock climbing, mountain biking, pillow jumping, chairlift (like a ski lift), a carousel, and more. I think they're building a zip line too.
