They have a surprisingly extensive menu despite its small size and the food is always delicious and the servings generous. Rustic Italian at its best. The pasta is outstanding and the the meat and fish is normally very good. I often have the fish broth which is superb. Service can be a little eccentric and the ambiance is average, but overall it is an enjoyable experience.
Ate here after passing it in the tram for years. The meal service and wine list were all good and we had an enjoyable evening. We shared a Bruschetta to start then my wife had Barramundi and I had Veal Milanese. Both were excellent. The servings are very generous which made my decision to have dessert ( Tiramisu) a little foolhardy, however it was worth the discomfort as we walked home afterwards. It was a warm night when we ate there and the air conditioner struggled to keep up however overall it was a most enjoyable evening.
We decided to change things up a bit and have our work function at this restaurant. Located in the new hip area of Brunswick this place has been around for years and the operators clearly have a good understanding of all things Italian. My only comment would be that I found the owner a little uncomfortable to deal with when requesting gluten free options. He almost acted as though I was too much trouble and whilst I can appreciate chefs get sick of the endless dietary requests etc, it did make my visit a lot less appealing. Aside from the above however I recommend a visit if only to experience a little Italian in the burbs.
On entry, we noticed a very stylish interior design. We were immediately met at the door by friendly staff. The service was professional
Friends of ours had been here before. This was our first visit but definitely not our last. We were impressed.Parking was initially an issue with Residents Only on the side Street. Lesson....be early just in case. I may check a little more next time. There may be more spots nearby. The lady that greeted us appears may be the wife and co-owner. She was nice and gave us plenty of time to chat and make up our minds. No hassle, no hurry up ...just like Italy. The place is very "homely" and warm.We (4 adults) shared entrees of bruschetta and some stuffed mushrooms that were on the Specials Board. For main, I tried the lasagne and it tasted fresh and so nice. Very filling and was fun when they are served out in the saucepans. They do state that the pasta is all home made and I believe them.Waitress was very nice, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is BYO yet be aware that corkage is $10. They do have some nice Italian reds that you should really try anyway.I tried the Tiramisu for desert and that was enough for me....I was full. The male owner (chef?) came out later and had a nice chat and then even gave us (free) some port and limoncello. How hospitable. It only cost us 4 adults $205 for the night with 2 entrees, 4 main pasta meals, 4 deserts and 2 glasses of wine (from the restaurant) plus corkage for a BYO bottle. I thought that was pretty good.If you like Italian, go there. I cant wait til next time.
