I have been travelling from the Gold Coast for years meeting a friend from NSW at Melbas Verandah Cafe and have never been disapointed with the amazing array of food choices, to think that this women makes it all herself is such a credit to her. It is of the highest standard and has always left us in awe of the high quality of the food that is served. Met my friend again today only to find out that the Cafe is on the market, WHAT A LOSS FOR THOSE OF US THAT LOVE THE PLACE. Thank you for your love of food it shows in what you present to customers. On that note and being very selfish we hope it does not sell in a hurry.
If you are driving along the pacific highway, this is a great place to stop. Yummy food, beautiful gardens, quaint and relaxing. Lovely owners.
We've been wanting to stop into Melba's for years. We had a delicious Canecutter's Lunch for two. A freshly baked mini bread loaf, home grown salad, pickles and chutney. Delicious potato salad, cheeses and cold meat. I would highly recommend this for a lovely lunch while travelling. We found the owners to be chatty and courteous. We'll be back...
Delicious Devonshire tea and yummy iced chocolate, not too sweet which is often a problem with this drink. The setting is just gorgeous, a garden id love to have! The owners obviously know their stuff as our order was promptly served and the lovely man of the house even brought out a bowl of water for our dog. The lady who runs the place is clearly no nonsense, but I would rather have her prompt efficiently and delicious food than a bland and facile smile at a Micky ds or roadhouse any day! This is now one of our definite stopping points on our regular road trips.
