The chocolate gelato was really rich and intense and too rich for me. They do really good sorbets as well. Their strawberry, coconut and mango sorbets are so good! I'd definitely come back again.
After a wonderful meal at Original Dave's Meatballs and Beef Cheeks, Joe K and I decided to top it all off with a second round of desserts, this time at the secondary branch of the much acclaimed La Macelleria at West End. Having been to their Teneriffe store and thoroughly enjoyed myself, I was very glad to accept an invitation from Mr Meatballs to experience owner Matteo's hospitality. Being within one km away from our dinner, it made for a very quick drive, and parking was easy to come by.
After dining at Original Dave's BBQ, we decided to continue our culinary journey by visiting the newly opened La Macelleria Gelataria nearby. Although I am not a frequent gelato eater, it was interesting to learn from the knowledgeable staff at the shop. The decor of the shop was charming, with informative wallpaper detailing the differences between gelato and sorbet, and how it is made. The menu displayed a wide variety of gelato flavors, making it difficult to choose just one. The staff was friendly and patient, offering samples to help us make our decision. We were fortunate to try their Pistacchio and Chestnut paste, which were both rich and flavorful. While my friends were excitedly trying different flavors, I opted for the Malaga with Rum Australian Raisins. The gelato had a smooth texture and a rich taste, with a hint of alcohol from the raisins adding a nice touch. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at La Macelleria Gelataria, thanks to the excellent management and attentive staff.
I've been a big fan of La Macelleria's Teneriffe shop for a while now, but only just learned that they've opened a shop in West End. It is probably a good thing I didn't know it was here, because it is absolutely amazing and I know I won't be able to stay away.<br/ <br/ The gelato is smooth and creamy, the flavors are rich and bold, and the opportunity to try before you buy is delightful. I sampled several interesting flavors on this occasion, but went with a three flavor cone including Fior di Latte, Vaniglia and Stracciatella. These were so good!<br/ <br/ Just because I could, I then topped myself off with a Lemon Sorbetto so refreshing!<br/ <br/ Lady Meatball was VERY happy that I brought home a tub of takeaway for her as well Cioccolato (Dark Chocolate), Caffe and Stracciatella. <br/ <br/ Overall, La Macelleria remains Brisbane's best gelato!<br/ <br/ Many thanks to Matteo and his team for hosting us and taking such great care of us. The Meatball Family is looking forward to returning soon.
Amazing gelato, texture is so silky! Pretty busy when I was there but the staff were very quick and friendly. And apparently my review has to be 140 char
