Golden Palace - Brisbane

Great food, very good value and wonderful staff. Restorant is also for wedding reception and Christmas celebrations in the private rooms and both have been looked after without problems. If you get the chance book during the Chinese New Year...a must do for Brisbane.

A group of 24 of us, 12 sitting on a table, paid $25 each for lunch on Wednesday. We received a plate of each plate per table each plate enough to feed only 3 to 4 people. The Steamed... vegetables were actually boiled pak choy swimming in water, and the rice was sticky. So we paid a total of $600 for 24 dim seeds, 6 meat plates, 2 soggy veg plates and 2 bowls of glue. What's going on? We still went hungry and as soon as I got home, I cooked a decent lunch. I'll never go to the Golden Palace in Fortitude Valley again.

Guided by the positive online reviews, we visited this restaurant on the outskirts of Fortitude Valley at noon on a rainy Sunday to review their dimming sum. We believe that this may be the best Yamsjagd we had in Brisbane. The servers were super friendly and all the dishes we ordered were beautiful. The dumplings seemed to be a higher quality than the ordinary dumplings containing whole shrimps and the furs were not sticky or glutinous. There is no trolley service so that the dumplings are cooked to order, and we were told that they were all made in the house and that there is a proper dim-summe cooking cook. I would like to bring my Malaysian Chinese mother here!! We'll try some other dishes again!!

Then the night sat with a group of friends and ordered the banquet. While the food was nice, the guest turned in order, but then a big gap to the main meal times and they only turned after repeated wishes, as our table was ignored... generally that and also for drinks. Dessert should be part of the banquet, but after repeated requests we gave up and sought a refund for those who were a different effort. In everything we were there for about 2.5 hours and not by choice can I add and will not be back, I'm sorry.

I love old fashioned Chinese. This is what they serve. But it was waaaaaay too expensive. The food was pleasant and the service attentive but the bill not so good.
