Przekaż informację zwrotnąDining with family for a special occasion, we were delighted to have a table outside on a sunny Brisbane day. We ordered a couple of starters to share and then a main each. When the food was delivered, we were surprised to see the fish main was half size of my nephew's chicken and chips kids meal. When we were ready for dessert we asked if we could have the cake we had asked them to store in their fridge (aware they would probably charge a nominal fee for plates, knife etc.) But instead we were told that we simply couldn't eat it there. While obviously not the end of the world, it perhaps would have been nice to be told that when we handed the cake over in the first place.
Booked Pony to celebrate my partner's birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make our night memorable. We have a lovely quiet table looking into the city, right beside the windows. We ordered some wine to start (Kalleske, Pirathon Shiraz, 2015) and the sharing lamb dish with chimichurri sauce and the cauliflower side. Then we topped it off with two amazing desserts. You must try the Bombe Alaska. The dark chocolate marquise was good too but very rich. The lovely staff sang Jason a Happy Birthday as our desserts came out. Overall the service, ambience and food were all 5 ⭐️. Thank you Pony dining for a wonderful evening!
I was here a couple of weeks ago for a friend's birthday. We had a large table of about 16 so had the set menu at $75pp. Entrees were nice but not quite enough as they were share plates. All but 3 people ordered the steak for main. The accompaniments were really lovely and inventive and the sides of chips and salad were great but the steaks were all terrible. All steaks were two levels under - those who ordered med rare including myself got blue steak. I don't mind rare meat but others at the table were very shocked. One of the ladies cut into the steak and ended up blood spitting out onto her top. The cut was really poor, thankfully they were big steaks as a number of us were left with half of our steak that was just sinew and unrendered fat. Desserts were really tasty but the steaks were just such a let down, especially for the price paid.
With less than an hour to decide on a venue to take the mother out for her birthday, I decided on Pony dining as my mother only likes to be taken out to fine dining restaurants with a view and Pony dining has spectacular views of the Story bridge and the Brisbane river. Despite the lack of white tablecloths (noted, also by the mother), Pony dining has a lovely outdoor seating area perfect for breezy afternoon lunches and balmy summer evenings. Deciding not to over-order this time as said mother had just returned from an overseas trip, we decided on a light starter of pomegranate and basil dressed oysters which were amazingly fresh little plump morsels of sea-salt divinity. Our main, the slow roasted lamb also came out perfectly seasoned and fall off the bone tender whilst being accompanied by a flash fried cauliflower and chickpea side with a kick of chilli oil for good measure. The beer battered chips with garlic aioli were also given a favourable mention of "these are the most delicious chips I've ever had", clearly making them a winner as well. The service here is a bit hit and miss, with some of the waiters appearing to be more trained and professional than others but this is rather inconsequential in comparison to the various good points this restaurant holds in my mothers, and therefore my eyes. I'll be back here for a Sunday lunch fairly soon.
