Taste was great too. How did I only take one photo of the dish? Oh well...
One of our go to lunch spots when shopping in Westfield Garden City.<br/ <br/ We ordered:<br/ Combination rice vermicelli salad: fresh, vibrant, with generous portions of protein, rice noodles and salad.<br/ Pho (combination): good portion of beef and pork, albeit few tripe and beef balls.<br/ Pho (rare): surprisingly, this was one of last meals to come to the table, and a large portion of the supposed 'rare ' beef slices were already well cooked. Reasonable broth, although does not have the depth of 'meaty ' flavour.<br/ Fair accompaniments of beansprouts and herbs.<br/ <br/ Reasonable prices. Efficient service order and pay at the counter. Casual ambience.<br/ <br/ Overall, a reasonable eatery for those craving Vietnamese lunch whilst shopping.
Their crispy skin chicken with clear noodles is very delicious, I get it every time I’m here. However, this place does fill up quite quickly and it will get pretty cramped. <br/ <br/ I’ve also noticed the manager asking diners to move to a different table to accompany larger groups even if they have already gotten their meals..hopefully this won’t happen to me anytime soon.
Being of Vietnamese heritage means my standard for Vietnamese food is higher, but I also try and support Vietnamese owned and run businesses and hope they do well. <br/ <br/ I 've been meaning to try this place out for a few years, their establishment into Garden City was a welcome addition to the franchises and fast food. <br/ <br/ A decent selection of noodle soups, pho, and vermicelli noodle bowls. The prices are 'slightly ' higher than your Inala equivalent but the serving size was huge. I couldn 't finish my bowl of pho. That said a Grilled burger costs more, as does a Mad Mex burrito so your costs here are comparatively cheaper. <br/ <br/ My mum and my brother enjoyed their meals, in fact my mum finished her soup before I did! The mixed entrees were pretty tasty. My beef pho was satisfying. It 's hard to beat the one my Mum makes but the broth and noodles were tasty. <br/ <br/ Service was friendly, and efficient. Another great thing about this place is that you can see into the kitchen, so if you want to know if it 's legit you have full view. I don 't see many Vietnamese (or Western) restaurants doing this so mad respect from me. <br/ <br/ Sure you may get slightly better for marginally cheaper in Inala, however it 's better than the Vietnamese options next door in Sunnybank and the convenience factor being in a mall is huge. Who doesn 't want to stop off at Myer or catch a movie before some hearty Viet food! <br/ <br/ 8/10. Too legit to quit. <br/ <br/
Garden City shopping nite, craving something soupy so we made our way to Ph by Pho Hung. The Vietnamese restaurant never fails to draw in a crowd as we waited 15min before a table was available. After reviewing their well presented menu, we ordered special combination beef pho $13), grilled pork rice vermicelli salad $12.9) and salt pepper quail $7.5) to share.<br/ <br/ Combination beef pho arrived first with medium rare sliced beef, tripe, beef balls and brisket. The hot bowl of goodies presents a fragrant beefy scent with hints of Chinese spices. Soup taste is on the mild beefy and salty side. The rice noodles were cooked to perfection and the meat tender and flavorful. Compared to Pho Hung in Sunnybank, the soup here taste 'watered down '. 3.5/5<br/ <br/ The vermicelli salad contains finely sliced veggies, peanuts, fresh mint, spring onion and grilled pork all sitting on top of round rice noodles. Add in some specialty fish sauce, you have a bowl of happiness that is flavorful and refreshing. The pre-marinated grilled pork was sweet tender. The rice noodles cooked to perfection with just the right amount of soft vs chewiness. Combined with the refreshing salad and sweet salty fish sauce, you have a bowl descent for success. One minor downside however was the watered down taste of the fish sauce. 4/5<br/ <br/ The salt pepper quail was the last dish to arrive. the lightly fried quail was garnished with fried onions, peanut, ginger and red pepper. The pre-marinated bird was very tender and juicy with a hint of gamy taste. The outer skin on the other hand was a tad under cooked and lacked the anticipated crispiness. 3.5/5 <br/ <br/ Overall service is ok for a busy Thursday nite. Several follow ups were made for cutlery and fish sauce. 3/5<br/ <br/ Hint: They have a special fried rice served in half pineapple...looks damn awesome!
