Grand View - Bowen

A great place for our family to escape the heat during our vacation! I had the best Buddha bowl I've ever tasted. The pub food in Australia consistently impresses me; the quality is always top-notch, especially in comparison to pubs in the US. If you're in the area, this is a fantastic spot for lunch!

Not a bad place. Has had a makeover but way too expensive for the suburb it is in and not enough tables to cater.

The Grand View offers a wonderful atmosphere with plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. The menu has a solid variety of food, but the portion sizes left something to be desired. We ordered the super nachos for $33, which claimed to be shareable among 2-4 people. However, when it arrived, it resembled more of a single-serve appetizer. While it was tasty, it definitely didn't meet the shareability expectation. Overall, the food we ordered at our table was enjoyable, but it felt a bit pricey compared to other restaurants in the area. On the plus side, the service was attentive, and the staff was very friendly.

A truly fantastic country pub! I had a wonderful dinner here tonight. We visit Bowen about twice a year, and this is by far the most dependable spot for dinner — often the only spot available! This evening, we shared some delicious crispy soft-shell crab as an appetizer. It was perfectly cooked and came with a spicy salad and a great homemade sauce. For our main courses, we both opted for schnitzels, or "shnitty" as the locals call it. My partner enjoyed a tasty chicken schnitzel, while I had a delightful beef schnitzel served with pepper sauce on the side, sweet potato fries, and delicious house coleslaw. It was a really hearty meal. The schnitzel isn’t the traditional Viennese style, and your Hungarian grandmother might not approve of the Grandview's take on this classic, but it was incredibly tender and flavorful. I’d give it a solid five stars, especially when paired with one of their excellent beers!

Bowen doesn't have a lot of great places to eat so don't miss the Grand View. The wife thought that the trout risotto was one of the best risottos she had ever eaten. My schnitzel was perfect. Plenty of salad and slaw and great chips.
