Prohibition Food And Wine - Boroondara

On booking our table for 8 during the week we specifically stated that one of our diners has a shellfish allergy (anaphylactic), and were told that they could accommodate this. At 5pm on the night, our friend decided to call beforehand just to double-check that they could accommodate her, and she was told that they couldn't as there was "seafood all over their grill" and it was not possible to provide her with any meal. So she actually had her dinner at home first and had to watch all of us eat our meals. When she asked for a white wine she was told that there might be an allergen there as well, so she ordered a scotch!I find it very hard to accept that in this day and age of dietary requirements (they seem to have no problem accommodating for GF, VG, VEG), that a restaurant cannot come up with an alternative to shellfish?? Honestly, is it so hard to pan-fry a piece of chicken on the stove top, roast some vegies and fry some chips?Also, another person ordered a latte and was presented with basically hot frothy milk, it was so weak. She took a sip and couldn't go on. When the waiter came to clear the table he didn't even ask if there was a problem with the coffee (it was hardly touched). He just cleared the table. As a courtesy he could have perhaps suggested that he get her another one??Basic customer service is lacking at this place.

Great food - love the share plates - with friendly and attentive service. Not a place for an intimate dinner but more for catching up with a group of friends. Will definitely return, especially for the great cocktails.

Had lunch at the Prohibition today with three other friends. As usual, a delightful and different meal. Started off with Whitebait, and then the Hommus and Bread. Followed on with more whitebait, (yep it is great), a salad, chips. (now these are really chips, cooked in very healthy goose or duck fat.Finished off with coffee. The other three drank wine and enjoyed it. Service Impeccable

Great meal, recommend the crispy crab and James was excellent. Will come back to try your new menu too.

Had a brilliant dinner here last night. Tried most of the share plates and they didn't disappoint. Tara & staff are friendly, helpful & there's a great vibe. Will be making this our local. Highlight are the pumpkin & dukkah donuts. We capped the night off with some sensational cocktails.
