Maling Room - Boroondara

Melbourne has loads of quaint, characterful cafes that make excellent coffee and this is certainly one of them. Coffee is excellent, choice of many blends and service is friendly and well priced. Cheesecake is excellent.

Located in the heart of Maling Road Village in Canterbury Melbourne is the Maling Room cafe. What an awesome little spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch! The menu offers a good selection of traditional breakfast and light lunch items, quality coffees and other beverages all set in the quaint and historic old Canterbury Post Office building. The staff is efficient, friendly and attentive. Inside, the room is old world and the atmosphere is terrific; outside the tables are located within the boundaries of the property and are dog friendly. Afterwards the Maling Road area is well worth a stroll with many specialty shops trading on weekends. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had lunch at the Maling Room when visiting relatives in Melbourne. The food and coffee were excellent while the service was fast, friendly and very efficient. Our two grandchildren were with us and they enjoyed the special attention they were given and the milkshakes they had which really gained their approval, and they are very discerning milkshake enthusiasts. The cafe is situated in a lovely old building which was the original Post Office in the historic and very trendy Maling Road. This creates a warm inviting atmosphere which all helped to make this a very enjoyable outing.

Since winning nest boutique roaster 2013 TMR implement continuam improvements as consistent with Specialty Coffee. Their new roastery label is Symmetry aligning with the house blend aka Symmetry pouring from the LaMarzocco Strada on their very busy bar in the very beautiful iconic post office.

My husband and I had been to Maling Room several times, it had never disappointed us. Food was delicious and there is a great selection of coffee.The location is an old post office and the timber furnishing gives a cozy feeling, but there are limited seating and the place is always packed every time we went there, not suitable for family especially with young children.There are many specialty stores in the surrounding area, and also a lot of other coffee shops nearly. one can spend a lot of time in this area just walking around.
