Malaysian Mamak - Boroondara

Mamak is my favourite Malaysian Restaurant in Melbourne's CBD. It is typical of a popular Malaysian food outlet, busy, a little noisy when there is a crowd but oh so worth it when you eat the food. The Melbourne outlet is as a good as Mamak Sydney and the food is genuine Malaysian cuisine. The roti chanai is the best roti outside of Penang and the Fish Curry is my favourite. It is busy around normal meal times but don't be put off by the line up at the door (it tells you how good the food is) - you rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes to get a table. While you wait, watch the skilled artisans craft roti chanai in the front window - amazing!

Strathmore is a bit out of the way but the food is great, the staff friendly and the price right. This place is well worth seeking out.

Clearly a very popular restaurant after a fair wait to get in. It was a great place to catch up with some old friends met travelling in Asia and enjoy some authentic Malaysian food and in a nice setting. It's a shame they don't have one in London!

Having eaten at Mamak's Sydney restaurant on many occasions we thought that we would try their Melbourne restaurant. The food was as good in the Lonsdale Street branch as it's original site in Sydney. Try it and you won't regret it!

We had a nice self-funded dinner as a work team to enjoy Malaysian food. We selected many different dishes from starters to desserts. It was tasty and reasonable for Melbourne. We brought our drinks as BYO. The friendly staff was quick and efficient. Recommend the place without hesitation.
