4.5<br/ We’ve live close by to Cantina Centrale so we were super excited to be invited in to try out their authentic Italian menu. Having been in Mont Albert for over 6 years we have always been amazed at how people pack in here. Even on this Tuesday night both upstairs and down were all but full which is a very good sign. <br/ <br/ Decor was quaint and the pizza oven impressive. We sat upstairs and ordered Rosé from Italy and Italian cola (Molecola) while we perused the menu<br/ <br/ Tonight we started on super fresh and juicy marinated Sicilian green olives and aranchino al funghi with Spinach mozzarella and safron in a lovely tomato sauce. The arancini were in a delightful napoli sauces and were a very generous serve for the price.<br/ <br/ I opted for one of the special dishes of the night a porterhouse steak, medium rare, with roast potatoes, speck and mustard. This dish totally satisfied my red meat craving but I did suffer FOMO when I saw some of the amazing pasta dishes come out to other tables that were my second choice. <br/ <br/ KD opted for Pizza, and if she hadn’t I certainly would have had to. She chose the Siciliana, a tomato based pizza with fior de latte, garlic, parmigiano, oregano, olives, capers and anchovies. The thin base had bubbled in all the right places, it was cooked well and super tasty, the anchovies added a fantastic salty hit, a really great pizza. That dough!!!<br/ <br/ We were tossing up between the Nutella calzone and the panna cota, our lovely waitress recommended the Nutella Calzone claiming she is addicted to Nutella. Oh we are so glad we went with her recommendation. This mega oozing melting Nutella is just pure goodness, I loved the dough around it, cooked to perfection with the perfect texture, it was just simply delicious and paired with the banana ice cream to break up the richness, a cracking dessert. They have absolutely nailed it. <br/ <br/ A very authentic pizza experience and an absolutely stunning dessert calzone. Both will ensure we bring future house guests in when we need a quick yummy dinner... we had better book.
A really cute local gem that does great pizza ! The pastas here however are not my favourite but I love the Margherita and pizza with prosciutto
The best pizza I’ve had in the area, we tried white based pizza with mushroom, truffle, prosciutto, was divine, the truffle scent was so overwhelming but suited well with a glass of Rose I had. Also had mussel for Entre but my partner didn’t enjoy it that much, it was too fishy and too bland for me.
A wonderful establishment on a cul de sac set of shops in Surrey Hills.<br/ <br/ We were seated on time and promptly by our waiter The establishment was full and had it not being for our reservation we might have missed out!<br/ <br/ We ordered a pizza and pasta, two appetisers and a bottle of wine for the night. <br/ <br/ For appetisers we had the grilled zucchini and arachini. The arachni was a delight to the pallet, with the eighth balance struck between the cheese and filling and the rice. The zucchini was cooked to perfection but sadly heavily laden with garlic which lost its appeal, and not to mine the bad breath after!<br/ <br/ The spaghetti bolognese was simple yet delicious similar to that of the pizza shown in the pictures. <br/ <br/ The wine we used to compete our dishes was the Wickhams Road Pinot Noir which Presented a great balance to the dishes. It could and should however be served a touch below room temperature which was a little disappointing. <br/ <br/ Overall a very pleasant dining experience and we look to return in the near future!
