After visiting some friends in the area we wanted have a little lunch before go back at home. We had super good zichi with mushrooms, roasted vegetables with french fries and a Jug of red wine. Everything simple and very very tasty!!! The price are very good too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Recommended!!!!!
You will find the Ristorante Pizzeria Bar Valle Dei Nuraghi da Fabio (whew! in one of the many construction zones on superstrada E25 between Sassari and Cagliari. We were shocked when asked 'do you have a reservation? at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon at this modest roadside restaurant. The place was packed with local families eating a Sunday meal. No pizza, menu only the owner informed us and he found us the single remaining table. This is homecooking from the heartland of Sardinia. My octopus salad was delicious and loaded with sliced cherry tomato. My wife 's mixed fried fish included a slice of swordfish along with calamari and shrimp. I was surprised that my traditional 'gnocchette alla sarda ' consisted of tiny shell-like pasta, not the potato gnocchi i was expecting. The ground beef and salami together in a tomato ragu were a strange combination to my tastebuds. Don 't forget to get a tiny and highly concentrated shot of espresso before you hit the highway again.
This is a roadside restaurant. We stopped on the way to Cagliari airport. The apperance is not much, as well as the inside decor simple, clean and functional. But the food is just to the contrary. Everything we had was excellent. We had their traditional food Zichi and meet with mushroms, some salad and tiramisu for desert. Excellent!!! Definetly worth stopping!
