Lots of different nigiri, salads, rice paper rolls and some hot things like tofu, karage, dumplings and skewers. I got a Tuna rice paper roll, really fresh, filled with lettuce, capsicum, avocado and cucumber, accompanied with sweet chilli sauce. I also got a gyoza - very big size and tasty filling. I then got some lotus root crips. Pretty cheap and enjoyable. aroundtheclockfoodie.com
Sushi is alright but do not order any bentos or ramen. Horridly bland and definitely over priced. Salad on the unagi bento was undressed and wilting. Don itself was bland. No sauce accompanied it so horridly dry.
Ordered takeaway teriyaki chicken and the taste was pretty average. they put too much ginger which made chicken taste a little chickeny and chicken was dry. goodtasteguide.blogspot.com
"50cents extra for ginger" Lovely selection of sushi and sashimi. "50cents extra for ginger" All my mates really enjoyed their lunch "50cents extra for ginger" Ok, clearly my mind was preoccupied and I forget if I even liked the food. What business in 2015 can be ignorant enough to charge for things like soy sauce fish, ginger, tomatoes sauce/ tartare sachets etc.... Just pisses people off and detracts from the food experience. (we just spent $46! - would you like a condiment - sure $1.50 please - take what you will from this; i'de prefer to be charged a bit extra for the meal and given complimentary sauces (buying psychology) - food was good but get with the times.
After walking around Bondi Beach and observing all of the beautiful sculptures from artists around the country at the annual sculptures by the sea, I was extremely hungry and craved for some sushi. Was wandering around the shopping mall and came across Kingyo, it's convenience as well as the comforting appearance grabbed my attention and I decided to have a seat and try out their sushi selection. Without a doubt, Kingyo's á la carte sushi from their sushi bar is of high standard and made freshly in an open kitchen directly infront of you. The pricing of the sushi varies according to the colour and design of the plate just like at other sushi bars - ranging from $3 to $7.50. The grilled flavour of the salmon and scallop round sushi was definitely a favourite; accompanied with its combination of sauces on top. Aside from the sushi, they also have a small range of noodles (udon/soba) available, so I decided to try out the teriyaki chicken udon ($12.90). Unfortunately, the teriyaki chicken was over cooked and dry perhaps due to the grilled method of cooking, it lost the succulent tender texture along with the juices. The udon noodles itself wasn't as well delivered either, because the noodles were too soft and no longer had the gummy consistency - presumably due to being in the boiling broth for an extended period of time before being served. Saying so, the service at Kingyo was impeccable, the serving staff were very friendly and polite. Best thing about Kingyo is that even if you don't have time to sit down and enjoy your meal, they have a large selection of sushi ready to be packed into takeaway containers to be consumed on the go.
