The standouts were the raw beef and sesame leaf as well as the Blanca black bun. Service was quick and helpful. Although, there was quite a bit of a wait between some dishes.
Went in with no expectations and left incredibly happy. We had the 8 course degustation. Delicious food, very friendly and efficient staff. Each course was a pleasant tasty surprise. Will definitely return and have already referred friends.
Mediterranean fusion with a Japanese flair. Our two favourite cuisines combined in one. Outstanding dishes that we would highly recommend: 1. Buttery brioche sandwiches beautifully marrying the flavours of the salty jamon, nutty manchego and truffle. 2. Soft pillowy black buns with crispy succulent soft shell crab, xo mayo and pickled sharp vegetables. 3. Decadent beef cheeks tenderly slow-cooked with intense sherry jus. 4. Pumpkin with brown butter, even our meat-loving counterparts proclaimed this as one their favourite dishes. 5. Oysters with yuzu sake and the scallops & trout rice crackers were both refreshingly light starters to start a wonderful dining experience with. Underwhelming dishes: 1. Kingfish sashimi, it was very bland, losing the integrity of the fish. 2. Aged Angus beef & xo, it was inexcusably under-seasoned and was served with a weird cornstarch sauce. There was nothing redeeming about this dish. Misc: 1. We tried all the desserts and none had anything to write home about. They did the job of wrapping up a wonderful meal, however could be fine tuned in terms of texture. 2. The saikyo miso bream, beef tartar, cured wagyu beef, burrata with arthichokes, grilled king prawns with uni & stracciatella, miso pork ribs, beijing duck croquetas and miso eggplant were all pleasant dishes. 3. A general comment noted was that some dishes were excessively saucy, with no accompanying rice or bread. Blanca is a promising new restaurant offering delicious innovative cuisine. The outstanding dishes mentioned more than compensated for the 2 lack-lustre dishes and we would highly recommend anyone to go to Blanca, so much so that we've actually been back twice in 2 weeks! N.b., We would recommend restaurants that we've rated above 3.0.
