I recently stayed for 2 wonderful nights with my husband and our dog.. The room was beautiful complete with an extremely comfortable 4 poster bed. It was also exceptionally clean with lovely quality bath room products. We were booked in as bed and breakfast but chose to eat in their restaurants both evenings and we not disappointed. The bar is well stocked and the wine list also offered a good choice. Every member of staff were so accommodating, friendly, cheerful slightly chilled out in an endearing kind of way which made us feel totally at home and chilled out ourselves. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Our dog loved it too as she was made to feel welcome and fussed over a great deal! There was a great choice of breakfasts all allergies and food preferences catered for. We can recommend the Devonshire breakfast followed by a long walk. The menu for the evening dinners offers a good selection of choices and the food did not disappoint. They do not scrimp on the portion size which is why I didn't get to desserts. The small village of Pilsley is so quaint and pretty with many stunning walks. We chose a 6 mile walk, recommended by the manager, into Chatsworth which was really pretty. The hotel/restaurant is only a few hundred yards from the Chatsworth Farm shop which is well worth a visit if you are a foodie like us! I would recommend this hotel if you like the idea of a quaint, relaxing and tranquil village. I would stay here again. If you want more nightlife you might be better staying in Bakewell.
Stayed for a surprise anniversary treat booked by my husband with champagne on arrival in a lovely and quirky 4 poster bed. Don’t book if you have mobility problems) but added to the experience for us. On arrival we received a superb friendly welcome. Good selection of gins at the bar. Had a 3 course meal with the highlight for me being the sticky toffee pudding. Especially when I received extra sauce. Breakfast was served by a young man who was super friendly and helpful-giving us advice on the local area. The granola was excellent and the crushed avocado on granary toast with a poached egg was just the job to set us off for a lovely day in Chatsworth. The only disappointment for us that given it was our anniversary we would have expected to be in the restaurant not sat at arguably the worst table in the establishment in the bar near the door) which became rather draughty. The helpful staff did close it when I asked if we could move to a table that had become vacant further in the bar. The ambience in the restaurant for breakfast was much more what aI had expected. Overall though a delightful stay. Looking forward to a return as long as we can eat in the restaurant!
