Caygeon Chicken - Bobcaygeon

No taste..batter was light and crispy but the flavour was lacking. My brother raved about this place but they recently changed hands apparently. I can't speak to it before but what I just had I would not pay for again.

Aug 15, 2023-I ordered the 10 piece and it was over $54. For that price there was 3 drumsticks plus a couple wing pieces, not impressed. I asked for macaroni and coleslaw salads, got home and it was potato salad and no macaroni. Came with fries so who needs potato salad. New owner and training, was not a good start.

The cheddar cheese bites are something special. The fried chicken, fries, and gravy are all excellent. The nuggets weren't the best, but they were not bad either. Everyone was happy and we will be coming back for those cheddar cheese bites.

A couple of years ago, my family rented a cottage about 30 minutes from the restaurant and tried their food on a whim. I remember my brother raving about their chicken for a long while afterwards, so naturally we had to go back upon renting the same cottage again.This time, I tried the chicken for myself. They’re large pieces, the bigger buckets definitely designed to share. It was a 15 minute wait, so you know it was fresh and it was absolutely delicious. My family got a 15-piece combo for four of us as well as an added side of poutine. Originally, the nice lady at the counter was concerned we had ordered too much (apparently 15 pieces is plenty for 6-7 people), but we were glad to take home any leftovers for dinner later. She gave us a large box to carry all the food in and we ate right outside.The texture of the meat was great, very moist and juicy. The batter itself was light, crispy, and very well-seasoned. I’m not much of a gravy person myself, but it was light and not too heavy (which meant I could eat more of it) and yet still super flavourful. I pretty much ate half of the poutine just by myself. The gravy and cheese curds were spread throughout the fries, not just on top, which as a poutine lover was really appreciated. The fries on their own are really good too and definitely were not overshadowed by the poutine toppings.Once again very satisfied with our visit. We already have plans to go back before we return home.

The food is really good and reasonable priced. Everything is hot and fresh. The chicken is really tasty. The woman who runs it is very kind and friendly.Kid-friendliness: It’s fine for kids.Parking: There is parking out front.
