The food was incredibly fresh and the service was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our meal. The Yuzu Margaritas were dangerously addictive. We ended up staying a bit later than planned because everything was just so good. Matsuhisa never disappoints and I guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face.
Nobu dishes and quality with a more lowkey ambiance. Photos are from takeout but have enjoyed going in person as well a couple times and it never disappoints ! I enjoy sitting at the sushi bar. It's casual. The food is excellent and consistent, always fresh. Takeout order: 2 squid pasta, 1 yellowtail scallion roll, 1 tuna asparagus roll, and 1 daily special roll :
If you can afford it, you must come and enjoy the fantastic sushi and cooked dishes at this restaurant. Despite being in Beverly Hills, it is unassuming with fast but slightly brusque service and a diverse menu. The Japanese cuisine is elevated, similar to Nobu as they share the same owner, but in a less pretentious setting. Every bite was of high quality, from the crispy rice and spicy tuna (the best version I've ever had), to the baked crab hand roll (ugly presentation but very tasty), the nicely grilled A5 wagyu (best enjoyed without sauce), the delicious black miso cod, creamy uni donburi, and the popular rock shrimp tempura. I would suggest skipping the tempura, as it is similar to what you would find at a local Japanese restaurant, and there are more exciting options on the menu. The oysters are also not recommended.
The original NOBU restaurant is an incredible dining experience. While it may be quite expensive, the food is delicious. My wife, who I love more than anyone except my 2 sons, adores this place, although surprisingly not for the sushi. She doesn't even like sushi, but we find other dishes to be outstanding. The artichoke salad is incredible, as is the spinach salad. The spicy tuna crispy rice is great, as long as they remember to put the tuna on the rice. The spicy miso soup is good, with tofu and seaweed in a flavorful broth. The eggplant miso is a hidden gem. The corn tempura was a pleasant surprise, even for my picky wife. The beef tepanyaki on a mushroom medley is also amazing. If you're lucky enough to have a tall Asian woman as your server, you're in good hands. However, be aware that the restaurant can be a bit rushed at times, as they aim for a fast turnover. Personally, I don't mind quick service as it allows me to eat and leave promptly. The interior of the restaurant has an authentic sushi feel, albeit a bit cramped. Despite the high cost, I truly enjoyed my experience at NOBU and will definitely be back for more.
Ugh, lord knows how much I love this place and crave their food. The fish is always so fresh and delicious. Everything is prepared beautifully, cut evenly and thin to perfection and the sauces are yummy. I love coming here, I love the menu and the staff is always so kind. One of the waiters once recommend the bento box for dessert and I was so confused what was going to come out and when I saw this beautiful chocolate lava cake I almost passed out. It was DELICIOUS. I wish the restaurant interior and outdoor seating was nicer especially for the price we're paying but regardless good sushi is worth it.
