Chay Umi - Berlin

Fantastic small place serves Asian/Vietnamese food. We went for their bestseller, crispy vegan duck with rice and a mixture of vegetables in a mild red curry sauce; and rice noodles with tofu and the same vegetables in a hoisin-like sauce. The Mock Ente was by far the best Asian dish I had so far; crispy, but tender, fresh and very authentic. In a mild red curry sauce with a side of white rice and a typical Asian mix of vegetables – what a pleasure for the senses. The rice noodles are very similar fantastic; perfectly boiled noodles with the above-mentioned side of mixed vegetables in a fabulous hoisin-like dark sauce and crispy tofu cubes. Sensational. The restaurant itself has a light, easy-going ambience. The staff is very attentive and we have our dishes within approx. served 5 minutes after the order – very impressive! The prices are also quite good – about 30 € for food and drinks for a couple. Note that this is a cashless institution (which is quite common in Germany). Sitting, however, is quite limited, so I would expect during the busy times – but it is definitely worth it. In short, what a little jewel of a place. Very recommended. We liked it very well and everything tasted good, unfortunately you can only pay with cash, but there are 2 EC machines right next to the restaurant. We paid 75 euros for 5 soft drinks, 2 appetizers and 3 main dishes.

Very inexpensive and very good serving portions. Everything was so tasteful and delicious. I’d 100 suggest this place.

My favourite for lunch. The food is very tasty, healthy and you don't have to pay a surcharge for not having meat in it.
