Barbie Bar in Berlin was recommended to me by a queer friend. I went with my partner and it was really lovely and charming.
The bar has a cool look with semi-erotic art, dance music and an old beaten down couch to sit on. But the barman were very rude, intentionally ignoring you even if there's no other customer. This happened each time we ordered (with different personnel). It...such a contrast with the setting, a real buzz kill. I don't recommend it.
Terrible service and barman was incredibly rude. Refusing service due to us being a mixed group of sexual orientation. Apparently you can not go here if anyone in your group is straight but has no problem ranting about equality?? He also failed to understand that...women can be gay too and completely dismissed this fact. If you want a warm welcoming experience I suggest you avoid this place!!
As a gay man I experienced homophobia in Berlin's Barbie Deinoff bar from the bartender when visiting the establishment with hen do party dressed in Barbie fancy dress. Bartender refused us service for us being misogynistic to him. I don't think he understood what the...word meant and wondered how a group of women could be severely prejudice against women (themselves). Bartender makes a comment Don't you know what Queer means YAS QUEEN I DO!! and you ain't it so take down your no homophobia sign because your being hypocritical, not promoting equality. He asks us to leave and we did and went to Matrix club up the road which was fantastic. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
