Each day the food was really tasty, especially the salmon, duck with rice, pork, sea bass and bacalau a bras. We also loved the desserts. And the wine, especially vino verde was wonderful. Special thanks to the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful.
Very goost food. It was big portions and good prizes. Very good desserts. The venue is very cosy and welcoming.
I was recently walking the pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago from Coimbra to Santiago, but a minor injury required 2 days of rest in Barcelos. My hotel concierge recommended that I dine at Galliano and I was so happy that I did. Indeed, I ws so pleased with my meal on my first evening, that I went back for my second night to have something else from the menu. I am not hopeful that I will someday return with my family so that they can share the experience. On the first night I had the traditional roasted chicken and it was simply the very nicest roast chicken I have ever had: flavourful, tender with a perfectly crisped skin that was umber from the piri-piri marinade. The silted and sautéed collards underneath were delightful, and the roasted potatoes rounded out the nicest comfort meal I have ever enjoyed. On the second night I enjoyed grilled salmon as my main, and took for my dessert a pear poached in port. At 15-16 euros for 3 courses of elegant dining, I was very pleased. In addition the service and environment were charming. On my first night my server was happy to converse in English, and on my second night the woman serving my table was happy to chat with me in French. My Portuguese language skills did not improve, but my palate was pleased and I felt ever-so comfortable. I should like to go back when it is not raining and I can enjoy the view of the garden at the rear of the dining room.
The food here was fine but the service on market day lunch time was terrible. A very long wait to order and to be served.
The tourist office recommended the restaurant. It did not disappoint. Our server, Christina from Madeira, was outstanding. We went with her recommendations for the prawns starter which was excellent. We also had the occupus which was outstanding. Wine recommendation was right on, and the desserts were scrumptious. We also had the almond Liqueur which topped things off. Would definitely return...
