In a nearly virgin culinary landscape for vegetarians, this restaurant offers a benevolent oasis. dishes, in the form of a buffet, are all as tasty and original as one of the others. The friendly patron is a visionary and a strong advocate of vegetarian cuisine. He puts all his fervour and his love of humanity there. Every day, the dishes are different. So we did not hesitate to spend most of our meals there. It was delicious.
Delicious, and people. Finding vegan food in Cuba is not easy at all! and here you can eat in total rest because the owner really understands vegan eating. let them support it vegan and food lovers!
I finally made it a baracoando, at my third visit in baracoa and I was very happy! we ordered the tasting menu for 8 cuc, which feeds well two adult. we had many dishes to try ( rice, lenses, aubergine steaks, cauliflower, Indian tomato side dish, etc. that eating was different than anything I had previously eaten in Cuba and I discovered new vegetables and fruits. the owner is very honest and seems to talk a lot about eating. I like the outdoor setting very much.
But the time I arrived to Baracoa, after travelling the island from west to east, I already gave up finding vegetarian food, not to mention vegan. I found this place by accident, I was there about 7pm and the business was closed, but I met Mr Arisitides, the gentleman behind it and he agreed to make dinner just for me despite being late. All products are fresh, sustainable, you can eat your plate if you wish -made of a big leave. If I were to return to Cuba, I'll go to Baracoa just because I want to support this place, someone daring to open a vegetarian-vegan restaurant in Cuba must be hero. p.s. I visited this place in March 2016, by that time there really was not any vegetarian restaurant anywhere in Cuba (I heard of a Buddhist monastery but too far away from Havana). Maybe things have changed now. Updated from previous review on 2016-10-04
